Mr. Hansen, P. Eng
Chairman & Director
Mr. Eskelund-Hansen, P.Eng., B.Sc., Engineering Physics, Queens University. Mr. Hansen initially worked at AECL (Atomic Energy of Canada) at Chalk River. This was followed by 12 years as project manager, senior geophysicist and department head at Geoterrex, an international geophysical contractor. His active projects with interpretation included mineral exploration in North and South America, Europe, the Middle East, Australia and Africa.
In 1980 Mr. Hansen established Geotest, a private mineral exploration service company. Geotest undertook projects for both senior mining companies and junior exploration companies. CIDA (the Canadian International Development Agency), was a client in several African countries.
Starting in 1980, Mr. Hansen has been a director and CEO of several publically trading junior exploration companies with projects in Canada and Africa. His longest tenure was approximately 20 years with Beaufield Resources Inc. (until March 2017) where he assembled key projects at Urban/Windfall, Troilus, Eleonore/Opinaca and Hemlo. He was also Chief Executive Officer of Melkior Resources Inc. from November 2008 until June 2016.
Robert J. Casaceli
Mr. Casaceli’s career spans some 45 years during which he has worked in over 50 countries and held executive positions with several companies including Franco-Nevada Corporation, Franc-Or Resources, and Euro-Nevada Mining Corporation. Since March 2012, Mr. Casaceli has been providing geologic, general exploration, drill targeting, and economic valuation services as a consulting geologist to several mining companies. Prior to that, Mr. Casaceli has been President and CEO of two exploration companies listed on the TSX and TSX Venture exchanges, having overseen operations in Canada, the U.S., and Latin America. Earlier in his career, Mr. Casaceli has worked for a number of exploration and mining companies including Anaconda Minerals, ASARCO Inc., Newcrest Mining, Urania Exploration Inc (Urangesellschaft MBH/Uranerz Energy Corp JV), and Mount Isa Mines Ltd, and as a Research Geologist/Seismologist for the U.S. Geological Survey and the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES)-University of Colorado/NOAA. Mr. Casaceli has been involved in the discovery, delineation, and/or realization/ development of several mines in the United States, Peru, Argentina, Colombia, French Guiana, Honduras, France, and Russia.
Mr. Bell is a former Canadian diplomat, Ambassador to Cote d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Niger and Mali (concurrently), to Brazil and High Commissioner to Malaysia, and Canada’s Chief Negotiator at the 1992 Rio Earth Summit. Since retiring in 1998 he has been a business consultant, a Chief Federal Negotiator for the Federal Government in First Nation treaty negotiations in British Columbia, and an independent director in several public companies and not for profit boards.
Mr. Bell was previously a director of Tahoe Resources Inc. from June 2010 to May 2015 and Goldcorp Inc. from December 2004 until April 2016.
Mr. Bell holds a B.Comm. and LL.B. from University of British Columbia.
Dale Burstall, LLB.
Mr. Burstall practices in the area of commercial law with an emphasis on securities law. Mr. Burstall’s practice includes all aspects of securities law from both the perspective of an issuer or an underwriter, including initial public offerings, secondary financing, mergers and acquisitions, all dealings with regulators including stock exchanges and securities commissions, and corporate governance. He also practices in business and corporate commercial law, including all forms of corporate governance, shareholder agreements, and managing shareholder disputes.
Mr. Burstall is a director or secretary of several issuers both, listed or private. Mr. Burstall is also a director or trustee of charitable organizations. In addition, Mr. Burstall has in the past and continues to sit on certain advising committees of the Alberta Security Commission or The TSX Venture Exchange Inc.
Mr. Burstall was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and raised in Calgary, Alberta. He received his Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary in 1982 and his Bachelor of Laws from the University of British Columbia in 1985. He was admitted to the Alberta Bar in 1986. Mr. Burstall joined the firm in 1987 as an associate, and became a partner in 1994.
Mathieu Stephens, P. Geo
Director, President and CEO
Mr. Stephens is a professional geologist with over 15 years of exploration and management experience in both mining exploration and the securities industries. Mr. Stephens is a graduate of the University of Quebec in Montreal and is a registered professional geologist with the Ordre des géologues du Québec. He is also fluent in both English and French and is an existing shareholder of the Company.
Prior to joining UrbanGold, Mr. Stephens led the exploration team at Beaufield Resources Inc. until its successful acquisition by Osisko Mining and previous to that held middle management positions at Canaccord Genuity.
